What Your Financial Statements Reveal About Business Health

By Matthew Slomowicz·April 6, 2026·4 min read

No single financial statement tells the whole story on its own. Read together, the three core statements give a genuinely complete picture of business health.

Performance, position, and liquidity

The P&L shows performance over a period. The balance sheet shows position at a point in time. The cash flow statement shows liquidity — whether cash is actually available when it's needed.

Why all three, every month

A business can look fine on any one statement and be quietly struggling on another — profitable but cash-poor, or asset-rich but carrying too much debt. Reviewing all three together each month is what catches that early.

This is exactly why a monthly bookkeeping package should always include all three statements, not just a P&L.
